Hi everyone
We have bought a solar panel and kit for our caravan but it came with no instructions! (only just unpacked it and was hoping to install it tomorrow) Has anyone fitted their own and could offer any advice or tips on how to do it? We do not want to drill any holes into the caravan so was thinking of running the wire through the offside awning rail down to the battery box- is this a good idea or not? Any help would be much appreciated
Thank you
Do I assume you intend to permanently install this onto the roof? While it's convenient, it's far from efficient on the roof and won't operate to it's potential.
Mounting it on the roof does mean that it is less efficient than wasting precious holiday time constantly redirecting the panel to point at the sun. But it is out of immediate access to thieving opportunists.
I mounted a cigarette type socket in the battery box through a fuse. And put the end of the lead of the panel into a cigarette plug. Make sure that the connections are very good by using solder.
