This is probably a daft question but here goes.. We have a Dorema tall bedroom annex that we have to sleep in when Mother comes with us. We have fitted it with a 3 person inner that is white..
Anyway it's great except that early morning it lights up at the crack of dawn. I have had this problem with tents in the past , why don,t they make the sleeping inner tents black?
Sometimes it would be nice to have a bit of a lie in and I wondered if I could dye it black?
If not is there any other way I could perhaps make the sleeping area a bit darker without having to wear an eye mask and scare my husband?

I agree and think inner tents should be black. I wear an eye mask when in ours or bury my head under the pillow

Never thought of tarp but still don't understand why inner tents are not black or even the whole bedroom annex on the awning.
Anyone here tried dying the inner? Bottom is a rubber type of base but most dyes are cold wash these days.

We always sleep in the awning and don't have an inner tent. I bought tab top curtains from Asda (nice heavy ones), cut the tabs and put velcro on so now they hook around annex poles. They are on all three sides & I even bought blackout material to line them, with longer ones that separate the sleeping area from the rest of the awning. For the ceiling I used a duvet cover but a curtain would work just as well & put tabs on all sides that tie round the poles and I feed it under the centre pole. I have problems waking up it is so cosy.

We have a Kampa rally plus awning with the same problem. When our 2 oldest children take a friend each to the caravan with us, one pair sleep in the annex with the inner tent and one pair sleep in a 2 man tent in the awning. The pair in the tent always sleep better as not only is it darker in the morning but its warmer if it turns a bit chilly as there is less area to heat.

I will be getting rid of the inner tent this year and getting another 2 man tent.

Some people have dyed the sleeping part of tents in the past. So I cannot see any reason why you cannot do the same for this one too.

Tents in the last few years have started having darker sleeping inners, so it is strange that caravan awning ones haven't caught on to that trend too.

So here is an update .. got rid of the inner tent completely .
Bought another matching set of curtains for the awning off ebay and an aero bed queen sized.
At night I overlapped the curtains so they were double thickness Aero bed was set in the tall annex with a rubber interlocking base topped with a carpet from a Coleman tent.. It was fantastic ..bed was better than the one at home .. the doubling up of the curtains made a huge difference to the warmth and the light.
We really did not miss the inner tent at all

Just wait until the mozzies are around and needing a feed

One of the reasons for having a fully closed in inner tent is to keep the little bugs and critters off you whilst you sleep, the bug season hasnt really started yet, but when it does then they will really love you for providing them with a free dinner!

I've slept in the awning for 5 seasons without an inner tent, only curtains all round, and have never been bitten by anything.
