Hi everyone,this bankholiday was the first time we got to try our suncamp altima air 280.The awning is great and quite spacious and went up very easily.However,early sunday morning we a little light rain for an hour or so
and found it to be letting in water from the seems where the air tubes are sewn to the roof.Is this normal breaking in type stuff or should it not be letting water in at all.I have read where the stiching needs to swell to seal etc.But i didnt expect a new awning to water in.
Newer awnings are more likely to leak along the stitching and this is normal. As you say, they need to be "broken in" to allow for the fabric to swell a bit.
If you can, erect the awning and give it a good soaking with a hose.
Failing that, you could buy a tube of Seam Sealer, looks a bit like waxy Vaseline and rub that along the seam stitching.
I have never had it happen, but every awning I have bought has said that initially it is possible that a leak could appear on the seams until the thread has swelled.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
