Hi all,
could anyone advice on how I should go about fixing a solar panel to the roof of my caravan which is very old and I don't want to spend too much. I'm new to caravan touring and bought a old swift challenger to see if this new hobby suits me. Any thoughts on a 2 x Fiamma fixing bars?
Is there any particular reason you prefer to fix the panel to the roof, plus what size is the panel? Roof mounting isn't the most efficient and simple free-standing would be your cheapest option if you aren't sure caravanning would suit you.
If you must install on the roof, there are kits that either use metal brackets, or my preference of a set of four corner brackets from a moulded composite/plastic material. These can be basically glued to the roof and allows the panel to sit slightly elevated to allow air circulation etc.
A suitably fixed/sealed inlet gland housing allows the cable to be brought into the van.
