Anyone else heard of this? Bought our caravan brand new in July last year. I'm a bit overkill with the cleaning - everything elbow grease on hands and knees etc. basically I'm the one who spots any flaws/problems whilst cleaning every inch of it up close. So you can imagine my surprise when wiping down shower unit plastic wall I noticed a horizontal split on the right side running across middle of wall about a foot up for about 3 inches. Odd thing was that shower hadn't been used since previous year when I cleaned it ready for wintering and only I use the shower so its appeared at some point between over winter and when it was towed to its seasonal pitch. Anyway on closer inspection there are many more tiny hair line splits at front edge of the shower (at shower entrance) just waiting to run like the larger split which has since spread to more like 6 inches. I emailed a shot of large split to dealer and Elddis have signed off a full repair/refit of unit.
I'm just wondering if this is a known problem and what could cause it? I'm wondering if its wrong type of silicone sealant which doesn't give when weight is in shower causing stress fractures but splits are all the way up the height of shower cubicle, I just want heads up so that I can question repair person about its nature so that it doesn't happen again once shower cubicle is no longer covered by warranty. Dealer very helpful says that repair will probably be carried out on our seasonal pitch rather than us having to take it in which would be great! It's a twin axle with end bathroom, any advice welcome thanks!
Oh dear Fiona, l will have a good look at ours later today when l go into it, although l didnt spot anything when we were away last week. Is yours the corner shower with the curved glass, or the more traditional square shape?
Ours needs to go back to the dealers for its first service next month and have a couple of repairs done. The electric loo flush has packed in, and the base cupboards come open in the main van when towing. Im also having a word with them over a faulty seat cushion from one of the front benches that needs replacing, and will have a good look around all the outside before it goes in.
Have you found anyother faults with yours?

Hi Julia, its the square shower it's definitely an undeniable factory fault as the fractures are all over the edges. If you run your thumbnail up and down the frame of the entrance (where plastic ends and meets door frame) that's where most are appearing.
The fact that no one has replied apart from you makes me think that it must be a one off and Elddis are getting their shower company to refit rather than taking it in so that reassures me somewhat.
Our snag list is otherwise fairly short and minor a couple of button catches (not a fan of those) have worn and a hinge on kitchen cabinet needs adjusting. I want water pump looked at as shower is dangerous for kids to use on a normal non service pitch as every time you turn shower on it comes through scorching until cold water kicks in with pump I'd rather it was the other way around the cold in first then the hot but don't know if anything can be done or that's the way it's been designed.
Overall we've been very happy with caravan and at the moment I feel fairly calm about the shower business as dealer has thus far been prompt and helpful which is promising.
Yes I keep checking the exterior just don't want to miss anything before the 12mth warranty runs out on bathroom and kitchen items x
Im going to have a fine detail inspection of ours tommorow, we got side tracked a bit by visitors today, so apart from emptying our fridge of his contents from our late Sunday return, we havent been able to do much to the caravan today. We have one of the circular glass door showers in ours, so probably a different tray structure to yours, but l know exactly what you mean regarding the scalding hot water, my OH gave a huge shout when he accidentally knocked the control leaver whist shampooing his hair, indeed he had been doused in water hot enough to leave redness on his skin, l dont like that shower control at all, and would much prefare a turn knob type like the domestic Mira showers have.
Good luck with getting yours sorted out, we are still very pleased with ours,
We have until mid July to fault find with ours, but now you have mentioned it, l think l will had the scalding water problem to my list too, just maybe if enough of us report the same problem, then on the grounds of health and safety they may do a recall and upgrade them to something much safer for old and young alike.

Greetings,
Can I point you in the direction of a thread started by me.

Thread title; Crack to Shower wall.
Here's my last post on that thread to give hope (and my 'van was OVER three years old)
"Greetings and Yippeeee,
Just heard from my supplying dealer that Lunar have authorised the repair under warranty and are sending those guys from PSS to effect a repair.
It just goes to show that not all commercial organisations are the same.
I'm off to celebrate. After all, there has been a saving of £320 on the quote already received from a specialist plastics repairer. "
Our last caravan was a lunar and we had a couple of out of warranty issues which they honoured for us too. I think it's also down to how well your dealer fights your corner too, good to hear you have had success not cheap replacement shower units!

Thanks Julia, I have a feeling they revised the hot water issue for 2014 but need to check
