hi all ive got a used bulldog 4000 anti swerve does it need any maintainace ie oiling or greasing

NO No NO The last thing you need to do it to oil or grease it.
It works by resistance of the joint which needs to be dry. They need to be tightened to resist the turning movement I've no Idea what it should be set at but I am sure someone else will know and no doubt be able to tell you soon.

You need to go onto the Bulldog Website and find out what resistance your Stabilizer is set at.

Once a year I grip the bit that goes into the towbar of the stabilizer in a vice and then using a Spring Balance (you can use a set of bathroom scales) I pull the spring end to 27kg (60lbs) to make sure that it doesn't move until it reaches that pull.
I adjust the nut on the clutch until it is set correctly.
Mine is the Bulldog 1000.

There are downloads on the Bulldog website to show you how to adjust this setting.

Clean the pads and make sure they are thick enough to
do their job and remove any dust.

Then set to the correct pressure as above.
