Hi looking at a 2007 Compass Rallye 482 I know they are part of the explorer group but not much else about them, they don't seem to feature on forums much which could be a good or bad thing.
So has anyone got one or know much about the model all info appreciated.
I think they stopped the compass when they first took over the company but reintroduced it when they started their new solid construction method.
Obviously having had 68 views and very few comments it would seem this van has neither bad points or very good points or this forum has suddenly become full of very shy people.
We had a 2007 Compass, not a Rallye but an Omega 482, for 3 years. It was a great van and we loved it. It wasn't without it's idiosyncrasies, mainly that most of the drawers would bounce out when we were travelling but we managed to rig up some bungees to sort it. Also we found the nose weight to be very light and struggled a bit to get it up to the correct ratio. We ended up with most things stored towards the front of the van.
We never had any damp problems or any major issues. When we traded it in, the dealer found a couple of bits of damp, one in the front left (near-side) corner via the side locker and one at the back right, accessed (with difficulty) by taking the wardrobe drawers out. Neither patch was serious enough to affect our trade-in price.
We were going for a new Compass, as Elddis are making them again and we'd been so happy with our old one, but they now have an Alco hitch and, as we'd got used to the Winterhoff, we decided to go for the Elddis Affinity 482 which is identical to the Compass but has the Winterhoff hitch.
We downloaded a copy of the manual from the Explorer Group website. If it's not there any more and you'd like a copy, give me a shout and I could email it to you.
