I bought a new caravan on Friday and the gas bottle is a blue one with a screw on connector and my old caravan has a blue bottle with a clip on connector, is it a case of just changing the connectors over as the bottle out of the old van is almost full and the new one is almost empty
If you have a fairly recent installation there will be a 'bulkhead' regulator, this is now a common pressure for both the blue coloured butane and red propane bottles, the fittings are irrelevant but, importantly they can't accidently be fitted incorrectly, just make sure there are no leaks.

Looking at his details it is an Elddis Wisp van which was manufactured before bulk head regulators came in.
There are adaptors which fit a screw on regulator to adapt it to clip on.
Remember that butane gas (blue bottle) doesn't boil/ gas off / work very well at frosty temps so if your planning on using the van early or late in the season change to propane (red bottle) when your blue runs out.

Just because a bottle is blue does not mean it is filled with Butane gas. In this case I think the blue bottle is filled with propane. There are no colours to identify the type of gas in a bottle. Our Safefill bottle is blue but is filled with propane.

It does if it's a Calor bottle.
The OP made no reference to it being a Calor bottle. Anyway Calor could have picked pink for butane and yellow for Propane however they just happen to pick red and blue.
Thanks for all the advise, when I 1st saw the connector I thought that they just chucked a bottle in to fill the gap both 'vans are 92/93 so Im assuming that they don't have the bulkhead regulator, I have changed the bottles over along with the connectors, I haven't had chance yet but can I just connect up and use it?
If you have the matching bottle and connector from your old van, and it worked on the old van, it should work on the new van in the same way I would have thought.
I would however, to be on the safe side, get a mobile caravan engineer out to do a gas safety check on the pipes, etc. Or check yourself that they are not perished and in date.
