I have used various satnavs for caravans and driving trucks and cars all three are totally different you can purchase the proper satnav for the job also regarding road recognition by the satnav as you are aware the countries road system changes all the time old roads close new ones open up you must update your software by download or upgraded mapping my tomtom has a computer connection for reporting road changes and connects to other users tomtoms and updates them
Hope that helps
The biggest problem when towing is very narrow roads - especially when sharp bends are thrown in for good measure.
The one thing satnavs do not handle well are narrow roads (and sharp bends).
The truck & caravan models might be better at this, but even they get caught out.
Your Caravan SatNav might ask you to input the exact dimensions of your outfit, but that does't mean it knows the exact dimensions of every bit of narrow rural road.

It should as the measurements are readily available plus easy peasy to use satellite imagery to work out width of road.
we managed to get a 2014 update to our Garmin and have since called it all sorts of names during our 4 week journey to the sth of Spain. Roads built over 2/3 years arent on it and you have to rely on common sense. The tools section isnt too hot. "Economical route or direct route seem the same as less fuel. Sometimes it has tried to take us str8 tthru little villages main streets 5 ft wide when theres a by pass! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
ive got a garmin, had one for 6 years,i use it a lot as im out at work in a van all day and its very useful, just treated myself to a new one as the old one packed up,not really had any issues, but we do keep a map aswel.Technology is good but not a replacement for common sense. The caravan club ones are £400 so a bit pricey for me.
