Hi to Bailey owners, first post from over here in Australia and really love all the info that is shared on UK caravanning forums.
I saw a forum call out to Bailey owners on the form so thought you might like to hear how the Senator Series 6 is impressing over here.
We completed an overseas purchase from a dealer in UK and then imported our 2008 Bailey S6 Louisiana mid-2013 and went through the process of complying it to Aussie (Queensland) requirements. All very easy just the gas being the main issue as both the gas lines, regulator and gas manifold require changing, then each gas appliance requires an Australia compliance certificate, which sadly is a bit costly. Why did we go to the trouble of importing - because of the incredible value offered in this van.
Just wanted to say how pleased we are with our import decision. The Bailey turns heads over here, and we love the large separate shower in the bathroom and with an air conditioner installed the terrific insulation of the Bailey for your UK winters really helped in our 30C degree summer over Christmas.
Aussie vans have island beds as the common layout so the Louisiana was perfect as it has this and the cabinetry is just classy.
We took the step of ordering a Dorema full awning from UK and Dorema were great and easy to deal with, and would you believe the awning arrived in 5 days from UK. Just recently over Easter holidays our Dorema looked really great up compared to the Aussie versions, another head turner.
Over here we get a few strange looks at the water barrel standing up next to the van, most ask what it is for because the Aussie vans take mains water pressure direct into the van.
It is more common to see imported used UK caravans over here as in recent years there has been a real wave of UK expats importing them to make a buck, yet its still a real costly exercise to source parts as many of the UK suppliers or eBay sellers don't post overseas and Bailey UK charge a minimum of £30 postage for anything to Aussie.
That aside I just wanted to say the Bailey Senator 6 is a terric van that really stacks up against the seriously overpriced Aussie black top highway tourers on offer and we are absolutely loving it!

Couldn't agree more Ozzie, there is nothing available on the market we'd exchange ours for, in fact we were advised by the service mechanic to hang on to it as the current Baileys are nowhere near of the same standard and quality.

Hi and welcome to the forum Ozzie, just tell em that it's your cold beer supply, then everybody will want one.

I didn't know they had mains water supply in OZ!
Going on the prices for caravans in Oz, you must have a real bargain. Enjoy it and don't forget the flotation gear.
