Can anyone advise on the following.

Put new batteries for waste tank level warning light on my manual pump thetford toilet ( never used it before)- level light !!

Light comes on when I lift the float and I can hear the micro switch clicking....but the light is terrible...can only just see the red indicator when the blinds are shut....

Any suggestions please....

Alkaline batteries or rechargeable?

Alkalines are a higher voltage than rechargeables.

Mine is the same so I took batteries out and never used it again I just keep an eye on the level no problem

Same here very faint light. I always empty before the light comes on so just have it as a backup

Mine has never worked since day one as the float inside the cassette has come dislodge,i just keep an eye on it.

My answer is the same as Jeff's as mine has never worked since day one either. It's not an important feature as like Jeff said, you just have to keep an eye on it. I was told a few years ago by someone who did have the light working said it was rather dim so probably that's the way it is anyway.

My tank full light is very bright, am I the exception?

Problem could be:
  • Quality of batteries.
  • Tarnished/poor connections on the battery box.
  • Deteriorated wiring to the LED lamp itself.
  • Possibly the microswitch itself too.

As has been suggested though, easy option might be to just keep an eye on the level.
