Hi, we are planning our 2nd caravan trip (newbies), we are off to Pickering - I've been trying to use a route planner and have ticked "caravan route" but it's still taking us up Sutton Bank ( I know caravans are prohibited)

My hubby is still getting a feel for towing, can anyone recommend the best route?

Down A19 to middlesborough then join the A171 to Whitby, turn off down A169 to Pickering is the way I would go

Or keep going down the a171 to Scarborough then along the A170

A19 to A174 then off at 3rd exit follow to stokesley then helmsley and then finally A170 through Kirby moorside to Pickering .

A19 to Middlesbrough, then skirt Stokesley and go through Great Broughton to Helmsley, Head for Scarborough (A170).
Road up to Helmsley has a couple of longish hills but easily manageable - look out for low-flying motorbikes though!
