Took caravan in to be serviced wanted it back by Friday, was assured when we booked it in six weeks ago it would be ready. Told yesterday not possible, staff shortage, just had to cancel weekends camping result lost time in van and deposit gutted

It will stand a tow to wherever you are going at the weekend without a service. I'm sure you check wheelnuts & tyre pressures before every trip anyway?
What i didn't say was the battery fried in the van six weeks ago with carbon monoxide alarm going off, van was at same dealers then was told van was ok had to buy a new battery, ok so did . Camped four days at easter on electric hookup, on Monday tryed to move van with mover no charge in new battery at all so had to manhandle van out of bay. Can't bring van back for weekend as need mover to get in cvan bay part of service i hope is dealers are going to check van electrics again. Seems strange three year old battery suddenly got hot and cooked itself and now a battery we have had since Easter now has no power not a happy bunny at all will see what dealer says this time, just to say van is a sprite and only two years old

I am a little confused here. Surely the dealer hasn't had the caravan for a whole six weeks just to do a service? I would certainly make an official complaint if the van wasn't ready when you were told it would be.
Regarding the battery, it would appear to me that the caravan's charging system is at fault here. I would certainly not expect a battery charger to become faulty to that extent in just two years. Is the dealer that is doing the service, the same place you bought the van? If so, I would make a complaint about the faulty charger, and try to get them to replace it free of charge.
We took the van in to have the battery problem looked at just before Easter, booked the service then which had a six week waiting list to get a service. Took the van away for four days at easter on on electric hookup. Haven't charged the battery since and took the van to the dealer on Monday this week whilst trying to move the van found that the battery was totally flat no charge at all.

I left my van to be serviced on a Wednesday afternoon and collected it on the Friday morning. That was my choice as I could have left it for a shorter time or have waited a few hours while it was serviced.
Why should it take more than a few hours?
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
