Which insurance covers damage by a caravan to another vehicle. Looked at caravan insurance and that covers our caravan but what happens if our caravan damages another vehicle eg when caravan swings when turning a corner?

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
If your caravan hits somebody else when attatched to the car ( i.e. Towing) the third party damage is covered under your car insurance. The damage to your caravan is covered under your caravan insurance. If you have no claims bonus on either policy it is in jeopardy and the excess on each policy also has to be paid. It does work out costly when this happens.
I think it's covered by your caravan insurance but you need to look at the terms and conditions as to what the policy covers. Mine states third party cover so I presume it means if the caravan damages another vehicle which is what you are asking. Your car is covered for it's value so I doubt whether this would include a trailer of any description. Any doubts then phone your car insurance claims department and they will tell you how to proceed because there is going to be a difference of opinion on this one so more reason to get the facts from the horses mouth.
Caravan insurance excludes 3rd party cover while towing, this is because while under tow your caravan is included with the car as 1 entity for third party risk.
So in the situation as described in op you would need to exchange details with other driver & inform your car insurer who would cover damage to other driver's vehicle. You would need not to admit liability & indeed you might dispute liability if for example you considered other driver had cut corner or whatever.
To claim for damage to your caravan you would need to claim from your caravan insurer, this would be regardless of whether you believed other driver to be at fault, your caravan insurer would sort all that out.
I've contacted one insurance company who say that damage caused by caravan while being towed is covered by car third party insurance but not if caravan becomes detached for some reason, anyone know what happens then?

That is incorrect, if the caravan becomes detached from car while being towed then it is an accident involving that car & is covered for damage to 3rd party by the car insurance. Caravan becoming detached from car is no different from a roofbox or any other part of the car became detatched during an accident.
If you speak to a call centre operative from your insurance co. they can often give wrong info. Ask to speak to somebody higher up the chain but you will probably have to do this in office hours.
This is correct a motor policy will cover third party risks whilst towing, if the caravan becomes detached whilst being towed it would still be covered under the car insurance.
However once the Caravan is detached from the vehicle then there would be no cover under the motor insurance policy.
Also there would usually not be an excess for third party damage as an excess is usually applied to own damage only.
Just make sure you tell your car insurance you have a tow bar fitted and will be towing a trailer/caravan,some insurance company's class a tow bar as a modification and will void your cover if you fail to tell them.
