I think that is a difficult question to answer because although its an old van it could also be considered a collectors item. It might be an idea to Google to see if there is a Cotswold Owners Club and see if they can help. As a classic van and providing it is still in good condition the price advertised might not be unreasonable.
Do you mean you are looking for that particular make/model of caravan? Provided it is dry & 'enthusiast maintained' ie serviced & ready to tow then probably price is realistic. From the hitch it looks like late 70s & might even have non galvanised chassis.
If you are looking for a vintage caravan as a hobby & want to join owner's club etc then go for it. Owner's club but if you just want a cheap caravan then for similar price you could get a caravan around 1990 which would have modern type chassis & running gear so would be a better bet if you could find a dry one.
Hi, in the 1980,s I worked for a caravan dealer who were agents for Cotswold caravans, they were a very well made vans and all that time ago they fitted the alde optimus wet heating system that todays makers have only recently taken up. so if it has no damp is in good condition, you wont go far wrong.They certainly had a classic look about them not bland most later vans.
No this was just a local one we'd found that was near our budget. Ideally I would not want to pay more than £1,000 and any 2 birth small sized caravan would do, we have no requirements whatsoever other than it being dry and clean! For the time being it is solely to be used as extra accommodation for guests as we have run out of room in the house with arrival of more children so have nowhere to put visitors!
To me there is a bit more to this than the seller is letting on or indeed knows about?
Like the fridge is a much later replacement, as is the instantaneous water heater in the toilet, (originally sited by the door), also new upholstery, curtains and overall looks in mint condition.
Given from the all white finish and the non-opening false 'louver' windows, I'd say it's a 1981 model, could then be worth every penny as the classic it certainly appears to be?
PS, one worry, the woodwork or indeed fablon?
It should be real oak veneer but only the wall to the left of the sink is!, the rest I'm not even sure what 'wood' it's meant to be?!!
Thank you for that message. You are right the wood didn't look like real wood it was very plastic looking. I think the seller doesn't know too much about it as apparently it was taken as part exchange at a caravan site. We're still trying to negotiate with the seller so we'll see what happens.
