I have just noticed that the gas tail on my van is dated September 2009.
What is the recommendation on age of gas pipes? Should I change it?------------- Best Regards

From memory David I think it should be replaced 5 years after the manufacturer's date on the tube, or before if showing any signs of cracking, I think stainless steel lasts a bit longer. Someone will soon come up with the exact regulations I'm sure.

Yep I thought it was recommended at 5 years. Reason I'm miffed is the van has just been serviced and the Service Centre never mentioned it.
I get it serviced every year so as to be sure that the gas, electrics and running gear are safe and then they go and miss something as basic as that.------------- Best Regards

5yrs for rubber gas pipe is rule of thumb, same as caravan tyre replacement, theres no official lifetime for gas pipe, same as theres not for tyres. Tbf to your workshop pipe is not actually 5yrs old & other customers might have questioned cost if replaced prematurely. If it looks ok it will do another year, but easy to replace if you want to change it.
