Hi all, I'm looking at buying a new caravan from a privet advert I have seen on ebay and there's on thing that's concerning me, the caravan is bieng sold by a friend of the owner and they have no documentation due to the owner bieng away and cannot give me it for a few weeks but I need the caravan ASAP for a holiday. I have ran a cris check on the caravan and everything came back fine other than who the owner actually was because there isn't any record of an original owner, but it was never reported as stolen or with outstanding finance or damaged in anyway. The seller has wrote me out a receipt to say he has recived a deposit for the caravan and the total must be paid on collection, it's dated and has all the serial numbers off the van on the receipt and signed by the seller, I'm just wondering if anybody has any advice on what to do about this situation thanks.

I would only want to deal with the owner with all documents on the table.

Why would a seller ask a friend to sell a caravan just as he was going away for a few weeks.

Thanks Steve, the owner of the caravan works away, and he's due back in a couple of weeks the caravans been for sale for a while I think and he's asked his friend to take over till he gets back suposedly

I'd be very, very careful. There's so many scams out there, there's also plenty more vans!!

I would only deal with the owner and only take the caravan from the address on the cris documentation.

If I was to sell my caravan via a friend I would leave all documents and contact details with friend. I would not buy this van from anybody but the owner. don't buy !

Hi, beware of internet, once saw a caravan advertised privately phoned to arrange time to view, however I had to call the guy back to change time. call went like this. LADY hello. ME could I speak to *****, LADY he,s down the yard with vans. ME his caravans? LADY yes. ME how many has he got now? LADY a few. ME they,re not at the house then? LADY no only brings them up here to show them to sell them. ME give him a message for me tell him Iam not coming to see his van. lady OH.

Thanks for the advice everybody, iv spoken to the owner and I'm meeting him before purchase, with the paperwork and he is also going to phone cris to swap ownership of the caravan infront of me, many thanks tho everybody
