Due to extensive road closures around ilkley and skipton I decided to utilise my caravan as temporary accommodation for a week. No chance of getting to work in grassington. Pitched on friends farm, no leccy, just water.
Gas for fridge, water heater, cooking. And heating
6 KG Calor lite bottle now on 14 th day of use and still going strong.
85amp hour battery only down to 12.5 volts after a week of 2 showers a day...
Very impressed....never gone off grid before. Not sure what I was frightened of.
Get yourself a 40 watt free standing solar panel and regulator and you'll go forever at this time of year. Or Alternatively roof mount a 100 watt. Happy days

If I spent any more on the van my wife would go mental. We don't usually go off grid , but a least I know I'm ok for the odd weekend
Edit:-
Just got a new ( to me ) porch awning today...but she wanted it too so not in trouble :)
I bet that in over 25 years of camping and caravanning (and motorhoming) we haven't had hookups for more than a total of 14 days - honestly.
We only rally, or use THS's, or minimum facility sites, and have a long experience of 12 volt living.
Having said that, the very rare occasions when we have had a hook up are memorable - mainly because of the blaze of lights and a wantonly carefree use of power ;)
I can certainly see the attraction - for one thing, our gas consumptions dropped to almost zero - but the style of camping we enjoy (and are prepared to pay for) means that 12 volts, assisted by solar and a small generator, will remain our lot in life ;)
It does have advantages - so many people equate caravanning with an EHU, and if no hookup is available they simply can't go.
Freedom from the mains means that you can usually *always* get a pitch whenever and wherever you choose.
------------- I glanced in the mirror, and it was love at first sight...
