Many thanks to all.I told Bob and he said we will leave it alone until something actually happens instead of just thinking we ought to re-do things.

Just did not know if the sealant silicone we used would harm anything like that material of the caravan. As no reason was given as to why do NOT use silicone. Goy a bit concerned in case we had done more harm than good.
We only went around either side of the awning rails plus the other bits I mentioned early on.
