Hi, where is the water leaking from, is from behind the square flue plate on the outside if so it could be the fuseable plug. which is simple to do if you can get one.

Hi if you want to take it out, remove white flue plate with the 4 screws, then you will see the casting flange with screws around its edge, look inside to see if there is enough slack in water pipes cable to allow them to give you enough room to pull heater out by about 3 inches so that you can see where leak is. also look at the gas pipe that hopefully will have been left with some bends in so that will also let the heater be pulled out a bit. there will be sealant around flange so push a paint scraper carefully around edge to release heater then lift it slightly as you pull it carefully from the out side. REMEMBER YOU MUST GET IT TESTED FOR GAS LEAK AFTER PUTTING IT BACK
