Have a look on caravan finder you'll find some end of season vans now with big discounts, otherwise wait for the shows 20% is a tall order i think i got 10% of my van + no on the road charges which is £500 + 1st year free service.
You could try the show at the NEC in October. The manufacturers discount the vans for orders placed at the show. On top of that you may get the dealer to throw in some extras.
Totally agree with the previous post. Got huge reduction at NEC show by leaving it very late (final afternoon of show) to call the salesman and haggle. They have both individual and company show sale targets and will bend over backwards to sell and will throw in loads of extras if you ask
Of course like with cars, the dealers make a good margin from the sale of the credit.
And this why some dealers will offer interest free finance, but we all know that the interest content is built into such offers, so I would steer clear of those dealers, as they have little if no room to drop the price.
If I was was buying a new caravan, I would let the salesperson give me his/her best deal, letting them think that you were going to do the purchase on there finance.
Once the deal is in the bag, but before you sign upto the finance package.
Produce a cheque and scribble out the deal price.
Of course you need to get your ducks in a row first, having secured a loan at super low interest rate first.
But there again, would I know, having never bought a caravan old or new!

The dealer does not get finance commission at 0%!
Sometimes 0% or low rate finance is offered by the manufacturer (out of its marketing budget) so the dealer will still have its full margin intact. So sometimes you can have your cake and eat it!
They can't offer a cash price and a credit price, the price has to be the same. It can be cheaper to use the dealer finance if the manufacturer is making a deposit contribution or if the rate is very low.
A 2014 model will be cheap as the 2015 ranges get introduced. The end of a quarter is a good time to get a deal as they will have targets to meet. Or, as has been suggested - do a deal at the NEC. Our friends did this, they bought from the manufacturers stand and picked up the van from their local main dealer thereby avoiding any issues with warranty work and aftersales.
Thank you, we are going to the NEC, we dont really want finance as we have the funds ready and waiting. We have a couple in mind so i guess its play them off against each other and hope we hold our nerve .
If you have no joy at the show, try Venture caravans, they are excellent dealers of Adria caravans(which I am biased towards)and based not that far from yourselves
We went to venture and very disappointed with the discount offered. It might be me but I thought £400 off a 2014 caravan with a value of £14,700 minus the discount was poor maybe we are expecting too much. And if we wanted a starter kit we had to pay full price then the kit was free.
We have also been looking at new caravans and thought the same, not sure if it's the wrong time of year, expecting too much (or we are doing something wrong!) but we didn't seem to get the discount and extras thrown in that people talk about. Some friends of ours got £1000 knocked off, starter pack and a really nice full sized awning thrown in, they purchased theirs in April this year and it was brand new just 2013 stock, so that maybe another option?
We have decided to wait now and go to the NEC in October and a local dealer of ours has said to visit them on their 'launch' night of their exclusive Caravans as they seem to have a better spec than the standard models and they are more willing to do a deal on the night, might be worth asking your local dealers and see if they have the same kind of thing later this year, launch night for our local dealer is in November. Good luck with the search!
