touring caravan lunar solar, first time to all this and need help when hitched up to caravan when i start to reverse i keep getting a bump noise when the tow bar pushes in on the rubber the brakes seem to hold on when i reveres if i give it a nudge they release and i can reverse is this normal if so can someone let me now if it is not can someone explain what is wrong or if it just me reversing wrong please help as as will be going away thursday evening and dont want anything going wrong while on motorway

Possibly normal or possibly the damper needs replacing.

When the caravan pushes into the car it applies the brakes.

Obviously when you reverse it starts to apply the brakes but then as the wheels start to move backwards it knocks a cam in the brakes to release them and allow you to reverse.

You need to get the brakes and damper checked.

it does release the brakes when i reverse but i did not know if this was normal as it was my first time reversing the caravan off the drive, im using a pajero 4x4 which weighs 2.5 ton so no probs towing thanks for your advice if you think thats ok then ill trust you as ive no clue what it was and didnt want to risk it
