Got back from a 3 day break in West Yorkshire today and when we got the van parked up on the drive and wifey went in to get the washing and empty the fridge she found that the shower door had fallen off and lodged unbroken and without causing any damage next to the loo.

We found a plastic thing in the sink and nothing else after a search of the area. In the door there is only one recess into which the round part of the plastic thing would fit BUT no part of the plastic thing will fit into the bit that should hold the door on the frame. Also there is nothing to hold the bottom in (or conversely the top as I can't tell which is which)

Any advice would be gratefully received. Just had to spend £480 on repairs to house central heating so not keen to consult dealer!!

did you look behind or to the side of loo, the trap door was,nt open on the loo was it.

 MY present van has plastic version of brass piano hinge fitted to doors of shower perhaps you could purchase same to repair yours try Screw-fix I am sure I have seen in their catalogue

You don't say what make of van it is But when our shower door fell off I had previously found a stainless steel grub screw in the shower So wondering where it was from I saved it I found out when back at the storage I found the shower door resting in the bottom of the shower

It looks like the bottom bracket has fallen off. I can't find the screw or captive bolt so I guess It must have gone down the plug hole en route.

If anyone knows whether this was a bolt or self-tapper and the size and thread of the offending bolt if it was a bolt, I would be very grateful to know.

Hi David,i might be wrong but i would say its a "Fat" self tapper that goes in.To be sure can you not go down to your local caravan dealer and see if there is a van like yours or,even check the door on one that looks like yours ?

Is there such a thing as a fat self tapping screw with a head you can use a spanner on? Otherwise I can see no way of being able to tighten the bottom screw!

Ours was a 6mm grub screw which with an allan key screws up into the door hinge

Its now fixed. What had happened wasn't that the screw had come out as I suspected but that the plastic on the bracket around the screw hole had sheared off a bit leaving the hole too big for the screw head.

A couple of washers one shakeproof has cured it.
