Hi, I have just bought an elderly Van Royce 365/2 caravan 1989 with the original uphostery, curtains etc. The wooden doors are marked and scratched in places due to 25 years use and the stove/fridge needs attention and I'm wondering whether to give them a facelift. BUT a friend thought I'd be reducing its value as she thinks it is a collectors van and should be left as it is..... advice please!!
Depends how you view it. Some would say keep everything standard but then you end up with a 'classic' caravan that you only take out on sunny days complete with period(& impractical)tables/chairs etc that you don't want to get dirty.
The much better idea imho is that old caravans are used as intended, nothing wrong with improving cooker & fridge etc, the idea to me is that an old caravan should not be a museum piece but should be used.
There are always conflicting opinions on this, some will say old vehicles should be restored to 'as new' stock condition others will just use that vehicle as a basis for modifications to make it more user friendly.
Mine is a 'classic' 1982! I've improved the inside with new covers on the seats, and painted the walls. Put two further folding shelves up and new curtains.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
