Has anyone used a camera when driving?

I use mine all the time including a trip to Benidorm and back.
Great being able to see behind you, especially when to cut in after overtaking.
Fred.
Hi david8858, very novel idea, never gave mothercare a thought in regards to the baby monitor , long past that stage. If it works via wifi , then ist’s no good as I don’t have wifi .
Hi macaw, know what you mean almost as if you have two towed vehicles on car, camera system I’m going for is one that has a 7inch screen a bullhorn attached to rear of van, when you see any one that close, you can shout at them to back off your to darn close.('')
Seriously though, after looking at some of the camera system video footage, I did notice that the vehicle distance seamed a lot further away than it actually was, and that was on a few of the more expensive systems, that was the main thing that put me off the more expensive system, your use of the 12V CCTV Camera warrants a bit more investigation for my needs, I intend to mount camera under the skirt of van below the number plate as there is a existing moulded hole there, and I can run camera power wires to reverse light or to the vans constant power feed when connected to car, access easy through caravans rear lights unit. I will need to make a small rear cover plate very light strong mild steel to protect rear of camera from stones and other road debris. I have decided to go for a 7inch monitor, not to bothered if TV screen type or mirror clip on type monitor, as they will be on the dash of car, I have four 12V DC CCTV colour cameras from a previous security system, I will dig it out and do a test run to see if compatible with old reverse camera monitor. Will keep you posted.

I have ordered a 12V camera from Ebay that should arrive in the next day or two. It's a WiFi version that should hopefully send the picture to my phone in the car. I'm not looking for any super quality just something that will let me see if anyone is behind on the mortorway before changing lanes. Fed up of people pulling out at the last second just as I plan to change lanes. My plan is to wire it into the caravan 12V system via a fuse and put a small power switch in the battery box. Then when I get to site and connect up the mains lead I 'should' remember to switch off the camera.
I don't want to make any holes in the bodywork so the current plan is to mound it underneath the back of the van. I will let you know how it goes !

The Mothercare camera and monitor connect to each other using inbuilt WiFi so you don't need anything else.
I have a similar model from Mothercare so I can testify to this. Mine is run from re-chargeable batteries so I would have to find a reliable 12v power supply if I wanted to leave it on while driving and not just rig it up for reversing.
Hi, Tested out 12V security camera, not compatible with old wireless monitor, wright voltage, wrong frequency.
I have had a look at the mothercare baby monitor, good idea, but unfortunately found the screen to small for me, I have long sighted vision and need reading glasses to see small pictures 2 to 6 ft away, (as I now intend to use camera for continuous running) I am going for a 7inch monitor and be able to see anything behind van without the need of having to put on glasses when driving every time I glance at monitor, and much safer that way, many thanks for all your help, experiences, advice, and links to assist me in my quest for a suitable system, I will keep you posted to my camera purchase and it’s performance. Many thanks again.
