Hello everyone, We have been away for a week, and as we are new to touring caravans,we have had ours for just over 12mths.We have had a problem with the water pump running for a long time after the taps have been turned off.I have made sure that the water barrel has been kept full, and the pump has not been run dry so as not to cause it to get damaged.Anyways eventually after a quick exploration under the seats at the inlet, and following the water lines as best I could, bearng in mind this was a quick scan,I didn't find any leaks or damp areas.I checked the pump in a glass jug,and it appeared to have a small split in the area of the hose clip, this was then put below the hose clip by replacing and moving it further up the pipe, problem not solved, and the water pump warm to the touch..Time to replace the whole pump and pipe unit.done.still got an untermittently long running water pump. The water system in our caravan, which is a Lunar 400/2.is a Truma Crystal 2.I replaced the water filter at the start of the season, and it has had around 20 days of use.
I have already had a quick look at older queries, and have read it could be a pressure switch problem,I willhave to find it and have a look next time we are away. I have also been told that there are micro switches it the taps, and it could be a problem with these.Discretion and valour and all that.it's time to get help and advise from who will than likely know the answer,so any helpand adviceis more than welcome.
Many thanks in advance Pa Clampett.

Hello Mr Clampett. Sounds like you have a pressure switch problem,it may simply need adjusting. Here is some info on what you are dealing with. The pressure switch may not look exactly like these images but the principle is the same. If you do NOT have a pressure switch on your system, then the problem will be a faulty micro switch in one of your taps, but my money is on the pressure switch.
The van will either have a pressure switch or tap switches, I guess its a pressure switch and needs adjusting, have a look inside the van near where the water comes in, run the pump by opening a tap and adjust it until it pulses on off, then go back slighlty until it runs smoothly. I guess you may have had the problem when using the tv, lights etc and the voltage to the pump is reduced, then the pump runs slower and not as much pressure is produced. We sometimes have thsi problem when not on mains and the battery is tired after an evenings tv.
Thanks for the advice everyone,I forgot to add that we were on mains electricity, and that this problem was occuring during the day when we had no lights or TV on usually just the radio. The pump ran continuously for 5 to 15 minutes, every now and again it would run until turned off at the pump switch in the van, then it would either run for another minute or so,or would not run until the taps were used again even after we had had the cold tap running long enough just to fill the kettle.
