Hi everyone. After many years deliberating we have finally bought a Swift Charisma! Our plan is to transport it from Ireland to France to use next summer. Does anyone have recommendation on which transport company to use for this job? We might decide to drive it ourselves but are a bit nervous about doing this as beginners! Also we need recommendations for storing it -somewhere around Nimes/Montpellier as we will be staying in Sommieres.
Any advise appreciated. Thank you in advance!
I would do it yourself as part of the adventure. providing your car is suitable for towing the van go for it. Towing once you get into France especially is easy and roads are a joy, especially main autoroutes.
If not do you have any caravanning friends who may wish to have an adventure with your van?
Thanksunshinetours I will consider bringing it ourselves as ferry prices look reasonable for next April. It is probably more cost -effective too. Time is the only issue with that. Food for thought!
Getting caravan shifted that distance by commercial transport will cost a fortune, towing it yourself ain't that hard. Most of it is motorway, you'll be ok
Also if you travel on a Sunday there will be hardly any wagons on the road, it is much easier on Autoroutes on a Sunday. The campsite will advise you about storeage options. In Frontignan last week I saw a guy in a 4x4 take a few caravans away for storeage, I'm sure most sites have an arrangement with someone. As mentioned above, I think a quote to have it transported will give you a huge shock.
That's a very generous offer David thank you.
At them moment we are considering taking it across on the ferry at Easter but will message you if we change our minds.
