HI ALL GOING TO NEC IN OCTOBER TO BUY AN AWING FOR OUR CARAVAN QUESTION HAS ANY ONE TAKEN CASH WITH THEM AND GOT A BETTER DEAL USING CASH ADVICE WOULD BE HANDY THANKS REDHEADS
i think the salesman will be given instructions on how low he can go on the price. tell the salesman you want to buy one today, but the price is not what you want to pay, then say nothing and wait for his reply, Then ask him for his lowest price for the duration of the show.
Search the internet for the lowest price first then set your price lower, then when he asks how mutch do you want to pay you can quote your price.
I dont think offering cash will help, cash buyers are in a minority nowdays and sales staff prefer the easy way of card payments.
Look around to see what price they are before you go,maybe go on the last day of the show,Buying at the show doesn't always mean you are going to get it cheaper.

Silence is the most powerful of all buying tools.
If questionned as to why no reply, say "I was awaiting a realistic offer" and then remain silent.
you will probably find they wont accept large amounts of cash due to the risks of "money laundering" plus a debit /credit card is far more secure and acceptable than a big amount of cash in a bag
Hi I tried to pay for a caravan in cash for a better price at the show last year I was told it is the same price as the bank will charge them to count the money.
Just to say, been to the show today, and had a great day.
Wednesday is usually one of the quieter days, but not this year, very busy with lots to see.
For us this show is far better than the February one at the NEC, which has known to have been cancelled in the past.
Why they don't just roll both shows into one, and just have the October show is a bit crazy, I am sure the exhibitors would much prefer just the one show each year at the NEC.
I hate to think how busy it is going to be at the weekend, but if you are going then enjoy, but get there well before opening so you can get in one of the nearer car parks.
We found that many of the accessory stalls were vastly over priced and it was cheaper to buy on the Internet. We ended up buying an Kampa Rally Pro Air awning. Basically 10% off plus rear poles thrown in with the price.
Bring back the show at ExCel for us down south so we can share, had an excellent time last time it was there a few years back and only 40 mins drive instead of several hours to birmingham.
would love to have gone but no holiday left to take time off.
Had a great day at the show today, not too busy especially compared to the weekends when we usually go. Purchased a storeage bag for the TV, mains water kit, some 'green' stuff for the toilet and a Corvelle Dinner Service all at reduced show prices.
Saw several vans that we quite liked the look of for our next one, but that's a ways off yet so just window shopping at the moment. The one thing I didn't like though was in several of them the mains switches for the pump, lights etc were above the door and as I'm only 5ft I could only reach them standing on tip toe - not good
The caravan of the future was spectacular but you'd need a very large 4x4 to tow it and I dread to think how much it would cost if something similar ever goes into production.
We're off to the show tomorrow. Went on Saturday last year and it didn't feel crowded, got to see everything we wanted so hoping for the same this year.

It might be something to do with twice the revenue, but I may be mistaken.
Almost impossible to get genuine bargains at any of the shows - Steam Fairs, Motorhome shows, caravan exhibitions, etc, etc.
The cost of exhibiting is very high, and not conducive to discounts.
We go to look around, but usually end up buying on the web for a substantially cheaper price.
I'm not entirely sure why traders continue to attend these shows - obviously it's a way to present big ticket items like caravans and MH's, but for accessories it seems a complete waste of their time (which, presumably, is why the number of such exhibitors is dwindling at all the various shows - greedy venue owners have not only killed the golden goose, but have also jumped up and down on its corpse!)
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
