hi there I am fairly new to caravanning and have an old (but very well looked after)abi quasar. when hooked up all the brake lights indicators etc work fine but when the headlights are on in the car only one of the brake lights work on the caravan? is it just a case of a new bulb?? any help would be much appreciated, many thanks
hi have a look at the leccy cable that plugs into yer car for damage or dirt give it a good clean with wd40 .if you no sum one with a lighting board or a car with a tow bar .
thanks a lot guys just give connector good clean with brush and wd40 and all is well everything working fine so hopefully that has rectified problem for good! much appreciated great to have a forum here with people to give advice to complete novices like myself!
If you happen to experience this again, for the cost of new fittings I would suggest you replace the plug on the van and the socket on the car.
The 12N/S fittings aren't the best and can suffer over the years, but cheap enough to replace if problems persist.
I remember years ago using an aerosol called Triflow which did not melt the plastic on hook up connections as WD40 does if used often enough.
It was expensive but did a good job, not sure if still available and if still as expensive.

It is a fool who has to say something.
Like the man said, our 12n plug had an iffy connector on the car. 12v according to the meter but when the socket from the caravan was attached it pushed the pin back and lost contact - no brake lights on the caravan. Guess what tomorrows job is?
