advice please on how to keep my caravan ventilated through the winter months, as i wont be using it unless we get a realy mild spell .

Just leave a window in each area on vent. We have never wintered our van - it lives on the drive and if its a really really cold spell we put the van heating on low just to keep the chill off it.

No probs in 8 years with this method and 2 vans.

You will have permanent ventilation in floor & toilet, locate vents & ensure they are unobstructed. You may need to leave cupboard doors open & also toilet door.

Caravans have vents built in. Basically follow Ludovine's advice above.

Do not put any form of heating or moisture absorbing salt bowls or dehumidifiers in it - it's not necessary if it doesn't leak.

Make sure it's properly drained of water.

Hi, I use a made to measure winter cover and put in moisture absorber with the proper crystals NOT SALT. This is because the air in winter can be excessively damp for long periods, and I don't have room indoors to store seat cushions which I would do if I could

Warm air is more likely to be damp than cold air but air in caravan will be at its dampest when it is being slept & cooked in. All any sort of absorbent crystals or salt will do is extract moisture from the small amount of air that actually passes over those crystals so will serve no usful purpose. Ventilation to allow air to circulate in & out is most important.
