Have been looking at 4 berth transverse/island bed layout. Getting fed up with clambering over man mountain in night in fixed bed, avoiding kicking dog in process etc. Our Bunty has plenty of storage - 9 lockers in lounge area alone, whereas the new models seem to be limited to about 7 and not so deep. Where would I put what I consider essentials .i.e. basket of tools, hot water bottles, dog accessories etc. Have to admit that if I run out of something in the house,I might well have it stored in the van- antihistamines as an example. Any suggestions ? Single axle vans only.
There will be lots of storage under fixed bed. Are you looking at vans with panoramic windows at the front? these will have traded lockers for window. Look at vans without these windows and they will have the same locker space as yours.
Just exchanged my Swift Challenger 490L for an Ace Award Tristar with an island bed. There are, of course, compromises to be made since the living area is smaller but, after 2 nights, I would never go back to clambering over OH in the middle of the night! As brianconwy says, there is a massive storage under the bed and cupboards under the wardrobe and dressing table. I may put the microwave in the awning to free up another cupboard in the kitchen area but we have got everything in at the moment!
