I put the ladder inside and open the roof light and then stick my head and body through the gap I then wash as far as I can from there. I first put the bucket out on the roof. After that I go outside and complete the rest of the roof. I then hose it off after that I lift up the steadies place chocks behind the wheels and then raise the jockey wheel into a position that the water runs off the roof.Hope this helps

It pays to buy a decent telescopic brush I first bought a cheap one and the head fell off. The next one was a Kent about £18 but worth every penny and I also use it on my car it has softer bristles that the cheaper ones so it doesn't scratch the vehicles

As per 'camcroft' find I don't get as wet doing it this way. Also use Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler.

I hate doing the roof,i had thought of getting a cheap scoffolding tower unit from such as machine mart.They have wheels so you can move around the van and dismantle it when finished.One of them with 2 planks and you can look down on the roof.

Have to disagree with SamP (not that I have a vested interest

) The roof is where most of the black streaks come from, also it does pay to keep a roof clean because if you let moss grow on your caravan roof it will eat into the surface. I valeted a customers van where he had never washed the roof and the moss had eaten right through it, making small pin holes all over the roof

I have a set of wooden ladders, I lean against the awning rail and then use a long handled brush. Never had a problem in 22 years, never caused any damage to the van. I did once try some step ladders and that felt most precarious and dangerous.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

The dealer who services our van also washes it. But at £65 its a once a year option.

Step ladders and one of those long reach wash brushes you find in car shops it what I used on our van.

Or, in my boss's case when doing his his van, STAND ON THE ROOF!!

No, hang on.... He had me standing on the roof cleaning it!

It was a Knaus van though, and the roof didn't flex too.

Also, he had me using the pressure washer on it too! I questioned it and explained about damaging seals etc, but he said he's done it every year...

He also added a drop of Jeyes fluid to the pressure washers feed tank, says it helps keep the green algae away too.
