I use a standard aluminium ladder, but use foam pipe insulation, cable tied on to the ladder to protect the awning rail.

I stood on the roof of our Bailey Pegasus - foam mop and a bucket of water......have to clean it otherwise I can see all of the dust etc on the rooflights - and that really irritates me.....
