my question is I have bought an older van 2001 the previous owners had a newer type 13 pin socket fitted to there car so got both the black and white leads to caravan put onto one 13 pin plug. now I have old plugs on my car black and white They bought a adapter to go on the two leads from the van so it reduced it to normal 8 pin so as to fit onto my black plug. (with me so far) question is will this arrangement charge the leisure batt in van and run fridge??? I know it works the lights on van.
Surely you need the opposite adaptor to link the two on the car to the one on the caravan. I had similar for several years which work well although in the end converted the car to single 13 pin.
I have the 13 pin plug on my van and two plugs on my car, bought the appropriate adaptor from Towsure(£20) and have no prob's,remember also that the grey socket works your reversing lights on the van,and I think, your fog/high intensity lights
Thanks have been to a reputable dealer and asked the question and found the answer is as most have said as long as you get the right lead there is no problems, however I then went to a tow bar specialist and found it would only cost £25 to convert car to a thirteen pin so doing the maths have booked it in for tm to get it done.
I still can't fathom an outfit I saw earlier this year. Car with 13 pin socket connected to 13 pin to 12N/12S adaptor connected to 12N/12S to 13 pin adaptor connected to caravan 13 pin plug
