Hi
I’m thinking of painting the external vents on the top of the van. I had thought of masking the area on the top of the van and using a car aerosol spray paint. Does any one see any problems with this?

Cellulose based car aerosol paint always used to melt plastic. I don't know if composition is different now but whatever spray paint you get, test it on a small section first.

Thanks. I've just finished cleaning the roof and as my van is old the vents are distinctly a dirty grey colour whereas when the van was new they were white. I have seen some paint sprays (on a well known auction site) that say they can be used on wood plastic and metal.
However like you I can remember that going back more years than I care to remember that some aerosol sprays would damage plastic. Might try a test spray on the garden furniture.

Use Plastikote get from b and q comes in all colours and thats what its made for.

I got my opaque top vents back to nearly snow white using very fine wet&dry and bleach the amount of extra light inside van made it worth while.
I have used plastic cote externally on plastic and it did not last long thats 2 coats

Thank you for your advice. I would have used superfine wet and dry before painting so I'll see how it looks after using your method - I can always paint over if needed.
