Sounds a little on the low side, unless the Electrics are going to be lash up, using a fistful of scotch locks and a relay bypass.

Proper dedicated Electrics are a must on new cars these days, as the car engine management and alarm become intergrated, and disable Stop-Start etc.

All new electrics tend to be Single 13 pin connector, which is a more secure connection than the outdated 7 pin connectors.

Of course you can opt to have fully wired or not, if you don't require van charging, which would cut the cost but only slightly.

Our Brink tow bar fitted including electrics was about £250 by Indespension about 6 years ago so your quote seems OK to me.

Have them check all bolts for tightness for free after about 250 miles of towing too. They might offer this anyway.

had my seat leon fitted by same chaps and are tow bar specialist had no probs with tow bar and leccy .so looks like they are getting the job

I just got a fixed alko compatible towbar fitted on my Antara, was quoted £310 plus VAT but when I phoned on Saturday they said they could do it that day, and as they don't take cards they did it for £260 .
This is a towbar specialist near me.

cost us 300 quid for swan neck with twin electrics fitted to our chrysler 300 estate.And it was done at the house with a ten year gaurantee.I was at work but O/H said it took him about 3 hours.

A dedicated wiring harness with relays for your motor would cost about £195 you can get fakes cheaper or botched scotch blocks.
If your motor is under warranty it will be void.
unless carried out by a vat paying installer and is wired to Vauxhalls design.
the metall work should cost a round £275-£350 depending on make and design you purchase.
Main dealerships are a lot more as they usually farm the work out to a vat paying installer and put on there make just for giving the installer the job.
There are fake well know makes about(Most prob from far east) just like car spares.
Usually the dearer the car greater the cost of installation.

Hi try PF Jones in manchester (they deliver) always got my towbars from there along with dedicated electrics.

My antara towbar was £90.00 (witter) and dedicated elecs £56.00 (right connections)

Goggle right connections and ask them for a price as they do all makes of car.

Fitted the antara towbar in about half an hour and the dedicated elecs was simple plug-in fit.

Previous car fitted to were a ford focus estate and volvo v70 estate both with dedicated etc for about £150.00. If you can fit yourself then OK but a vast amount of money to pay if you cannot. Make sure its dedicated etcs.

had my seat leon tow bar fitted by same chaps. car being for three services and mot a seat main dealer had no probs there they are vat reg and do my local Vauxhall dealer so hope ok. cheers for your replys cant wait to get it fitted .picking car up next Friday give it about a couple of hundred miles before getting tow fitted

          I thought the dedicated electrics had to be coded to the vehicle using dealer or fitting firms software suite, so not simply case of plug and play.

For the price of many of these tow-cars nowadays, wouldnt you hope that they installed towing electrics right to a point beneath the bumper. Where once a ball was fitted, something like the 13 pin socket would couple straight into this, to an actual socket that was accessible.

£3/5/800 for a working towbar really is taking the pi$$.
