I have a coachman mirage caravan 1996 model and the fire which is a Carver S1800 is broken, I have seen a Carver SB1800 fire for sale on ebay but am not sure if I can change the S1800 for a SB1800 and if so would it be a straight forward swap or would it need a lot of work to get it to fit? Any help on this matter gratefully accepted

Well first yours in 96 should be an 1800SC having replaced the 1800S in mid 95?
But these pair are all but identical, the 'C' standing for curved and simply relates to the curved fire front cover and the matching base plate of the fire.

On the other hand, all other 1800 models are different and older by a fair margin, so yes some will fit with effort, but not sensibly the SB or SBT.

Which all then begs the question, what is 'broke' on your fire?

Correction to our model, it is an 1800S flat front. On ours the control knob is broken as in it comes away from the base and although we have put it back in several times it just comes out whenever it is turned.

Yes Very common problem but generally an easy dirt cheap fix, send me an email with a sharp picture or two of exactly where the problem is and no promises but I'll try and explain how to fix it permanently!

email is info at   and then as my website address (on left) without www.
