Hi all, I've just upgrade from a tent to a caravan with an awning. The only problem I remember with my Outwell tent was that it had plastic pegs and that I had to buy metal pegs......
Therefore what pegs are supplied with awnings and general how many pegs do u need?
The pegs that go with an awning is much the same for a tent.I suggest going to a dealers shop as he will keep you right as you get ones that screw in and ones for hard standing as these are thicker and the norm ones.
As for how many you need,just count the lugs that hold it down and buy a few extra.
Unless you only pitch on soft ground and done need to prevent the awning flapping in the wind.
Get yourself a decent set of pegs. I use the type that look like large screws. If the grounds soft you can push them in as normal and a battery drill takes them out in seconds.
You also have the option of screwing them in if the grounds hard.
We carry 2 sets (20 per box) of the Blue Diamond heavy duty pegs purchased from Go Outdoors. There are enough for all the straps and ropes on our porch and extra to use on our fishing shelter if required.
We also use rock pegs. We've never actually used the pegs that came with either of our awnings. A mix of plastic and thin metal ones for the upright pole feet.
Regarding how many pegs you need all depends on the size of the awning, very much the same difference between the size of a small and big tent. The longer the awning the more pegging places there will be. As a guide our awning is 900 cms and I have a collection of 50 steel pegs but I normally use about 35 on average including pegging out the draught skirt along the bottom.
