We bought an old omega compass van last year and are in the process of doing it up for nice family trips away this year. However it doesn't have a toilet and with a toddler about to start potty training we can't be dashing all over a campsite at random times. Now I've had a look at some toilets but I'm abit confused about which one to choose. Does anyone have any advice on what sort of loo we should be looking at??

something such as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAMPING-THETFORD-PORTA-POTTI-QUBE-165-TOILET-92805-SPECIAL-OFFER-LIMITED-STOCK-/400853625432?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d54bcea58 there are plenty of different sizes to choose from too, depending on the size of your family and how its going to get used (only number 1s?)

2 adults one 9 year old and the afore mentioned toddler. Hopefully number 1's only unless the toddler gets carried away.

portapotti range, Unless you want to spend more and cut holes in the caravan wall to fit a cassette toilet?

A Porta-potti is certainly the easiest option. It's what we use. No messing around installing, practical to use, and easy to empty.

Yep Porta Potti will be fine. You can set it up in the awning perhaps with a cheap shower curtain to screen it then bring it inside the van at night if you want to.

My caravan doesn't have a fitted shower room/toilet so I use a Fiamma Bi-Pot portable loo and it is fab! No cutting holes in the van, it is very easy to fill, empty and clean and I can take it out if and when I need to use it elsewhere!

Portapotti type ideal; we used one for twenty years in our first (1972) Sprite Alpine caravan until we got a newer van with cassette toilet - but we still have the Portapotti as a spare. In fact, it was invaluable in the house when a family member was ill, had to sleep downstairs and was unable to get upstairs to the toilet!
