Does anyone know if there is any other difference other than cosmetic between the Alko red Hitchcock which has been the standard norm for years I thought and a black one?
I am just about to get a new one and the dealer said they have the black one in stock which has replaced the red one?
Yet I still see red ones for sale?
It is for the new 3004 Hitchcock on a 2015 Elddis.
If the new hitches have black handles then probably new locks are black to match. Red ones will be for older hitches or old stock. Whatever, the dealer has to supply correct lock so can't see a problem.
Hi Billy, yes I was wondering if just cosmetic. Only had BPW for last 8 years and they have two similar locks, one lightweight and one heavy duty which I had.
Just wanted to know if the same with Alko locks as changing caravan.
The way to find out for sure is to contact ALKO customer services and ask them. It's too late if you buy one and it doesn't fit as not all the hitcklocks are universal fitting especially the AKS 2000 model as the handle is offset.
I have recently changed vans and now have the newer style Alko hitch fitted (the black type).
I can happily confirm that the same red lock will fit the newer hitch as the actual hitch assy has been made the same; the difference in the hitch is mainly the redesign of the friction handle.
