Where to start ...

You could have simply now tripped the circuit breaker to your sockets in the electrical consumer unit (fuse board); depending what else you had plugged in while using the hoover. This wouldn't answer why the mains went off for a while though, and that could be due to a number of options.
  • Either the EHU cable has a poor connection in one of the plugs/sockets fitted to the end.
  • A faulty breaker in the consumer unit.
  • A poor connection at the mains inlet.
  • Poor wiring out to the first socket (depending how they're wired).

In all honesty, if you're in any doubt as to how to check this out, consult an experienced engineer.

Are you plugged into the EHU on a campsite? It could be as simple as a tripped EHU point, possibly you tripped it yesterday & somebody else turned it on & you have now tripped it again by plugging in too many appliances.

Most caravans have in the wardrobe a box with glass type plastic front look to see if one of switches is down.
Usually the second switch from right hand side of box is 240volt cut out nearest right is total cut out for caravan supply from EHU.
Two other to left are for 12 volt supply. this is ISO wiring. if none tripped then EHU supply has tripped on pitch or site box.
Usually mine trips when my OH has on the following:- electric kettle, toaster, tv, fridge, electric side of van heater + 240 volt supply to water heater. never fails to trip.
The trips in box should be tested monthly by pressing button for Healthy and safety reasons.
Bet some one will now reply and contradicted me.
This has been the arrangement of safety trips in my last 5 vans going back over 25 years. some vans might be under bed lockers or else where.

As above have said..... At a guess the reason the lights are working is that they are on the 12v leisure battery,,,,

one of these can be very useful for tracing voltage

I always try and work methodically

check the supply post then your box then the individual circuits

this video is a bit dated but gives you some pointers
