As I have said in previous post re-heating,ive just had my 1st weekend away in newly purchased bailey limosin,i went all around with a damp meter and found very low readings of damp..highest reading on meter was 9. Is this acceptable.given the time of year and the fact the van hasn't been used for approx. 6 months ?
Rather low readings at this time of the year I'd have thought. I'd expect somewhat over 10% as normal in a caravan. Good quality kiln dried timber for indoor use should have a moisture content of about 8-9%. For outdoor use i.e. caravans it will be higher, perhaps up to 15%.
Did you press hard enough for the prongs to go through the plastic layer on the interior wallboard?
Yep,pressed right into panels through wallboard, dont know if I had meter on correct setting. Ie wood or other materials so I checked on both,as I say, highest reading was 9.. Will give it another going over nxt weekend to doubly make sure.
Thanks for your comments..
I only have a meter with lights it has 1 2 or 3 red lights have just had 3 show up on my bailey senator I got in august its a 2008 models so went back to the dealers and traded just for cost see my other post .If you have had the van under 12 months that's worth a try it paid off for us x
Its one that was recommended on here its a BRENNENSTUHL moisture detector. as I said, I will test it again at the weekend and make sure I put the prongs right through thanks again
As previously said anything up to 15 is ok, so wouldnt woory. I tried an internal wall on a new van I have been looking at, one that is not attcahed to the outside and that read 15 on my meter
