I have spent a very pleasant day pottering around in my little caravan, getting her ready for the coming season. I am going on a seasonal pitch for the first time.
I have swept all the floors, washed all the throws, cleaned and polished all the cupboards and drawers and sorted out everything that was shoved in the under seat storage last year!
Going to give her a really good wash and a coat of wax at the weekend and do a few little DIY jobs then I think we will be good to go!
If anyone is planning to stay at Brompton on Swale Caravan Park (http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3031) just outside Richmond in North Yorkshire this year, do come over and say "hello" - you won't be able to miss me!
I can't wait to wash mine but keeps raining every Sunday when it's the only day I can. We bought it in October and so looking forward to our first trip at Easter.
------------- keep on caravanning, life is too short
hey Helen once there watch out for a couple of blokes in and inflateable dinghy with sails up closely followed by a canoe to the rescue! if you see us put the kettle on
I got mine serviced this week, finally sorted out my calor lite bottles, things to do over th next two weeks then the pottering, cleaning etc will start in earnest. Off to Alton Towers for the Easter hold, can't wait to get away.
Took mine in today ready for its servicing on Monday and yesterday I managed to book 3 nights after Easter at Devizes Camping and Caravaning Club
site.
Thought season started in Feb/March you should have come out of hibernation by now and away to your pitch and had your van set for the season even your all seasonal awning set up ready for your visits.
unless your using an open all year site you will loose out paying for the season up front by arriving late.
If you have medical problem check with site if you can leave EHU plugged in when off site for fridge IE diabetic insulin can be transported in cold bag and put straight in cold fridge also can leave some food as well as keeping battery topped up cannot leave heater on
some sites charge a little extra for this some will allow free if produce medical evidence,
There again some sites insist you take awning down before you leave site and re-erect when you come back. also make you pay up front with prepaid card for EHU.
Which works out expensive as not included in seasonal price.
Different sites have different start dates for their seasons, so no, not everyone will be out and on their seasonal pitch yet.
Sites will also have different rules about leaving EHU plugged in and awnings up.
I can site from 16th March with the season staring on 20th March. I can leave EHU plugged in and awning up.
My friends season starts on the 1st April, they have to unplug their EHU when not staying on site but can leave their awning up.
I took ours out last weekend to give her an airing, and a great weekend it was too but now looking at upgrading so been doing the caravan hunting rounds, so this time next week may have a new van.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
