Hello all I am having a total nightmare with my truma boiler atm, first off the clear pipe coming from the hot water elbow was leaking water from outside the van, now the elbow is leaking water inside the van, I have took the elbow off and put it back on and it's still leaking, the cold water elbow seems to be fine. Has anyone ever had this issue before?
No from the truma water tank you have to pipes one hot ( red ) one cold ( blue ) well the red one is leaking but on further inspection i seem to be missing a little washer that goes Into the elbow. Looks like I will have to buy one, also further to that the breather pipe was leaking water from the outside I think it is sucking water from this elbow, I have twist the elbow a little and it has now stopped, so I will buy a new washer and hopefully this solves the problem. Thanks
Why would putting a small smear of an entirely natural foodstuff instead of the same amount of a mildly poisonous and entirely manufactured petroleum product onto an o ring be worse?
I know which I would prefer to dip my bread in ........ Your choice but hope you never go near any kitchen I order food from ..........
Sorry you misunderstood me, I wasn't saying you were incorrect. My point was that it was a pipe to the hot water boiler not a drinking one. So drinking water from the boiler would be far worse than the vasaline.
Put the nut, compression ring and o ring on shaft before pushing elbow on. Then tighten up only just hand tight.
The clear pipe is a breather for when you empty the tank.

Not true. Remember it is fresh water going into the boiler, and provided its been well flushed out at some recent time it should be quite drinkable.
Same is true of hot water from a combi boiler in the house. Perfectly safe to drink. Perhaps people are thinking back to days of old when most boilers were fed from a cold water storage tank in the loft where water could sit for days/weeks, and all sorts of nasty things could fall in it.
lol Thanks all for the comments, Just to let you know the boiler/ pipe is now fixed P.S we buy bottled water when we are out in the caravan to drink, lol Thanks all
Why waste money on bottled water? If you empty out your water carrier before refilling it is perfectly safe to drink. Remember water is already chlorinated to kill any bacteria.
