So, we've bought the van, sorted the car, DH has booked the caravan club towing course and I've just booked our first break away!
We're going to a site we've stayed at many times in the past, hiring a static previously. We chose this site, not only because we love it there, but we thought knowing the route and being familiar with the area would be helpful with us being novices!
So, Trefalun Park, Tenby is our first of hopefully many happy caravan holidays :)

My first trip was for one night in a caravan club site 10 miles from home, I told the warden it was my first trip And he gave me a free master class on setting up my van, emptying toilet everything.
Never be afraid to ask, caravanners are a helpful bunch!
I just need a parenting master class now to prevent my 2 young boys playing up and wrecking my caravan.
We've got a lot of equipment as we're former campers, and the caravan came with the water things!!
Im concerned about levelling but hopefully, the towing course will help with that. We're going for 3 nights, and have decided not to take this awning this time, as we thought we'd get used to the van first!

To be honest i was stumped by the awning that came with my van. The instructions were on a DVD that was unfortunately absent. Fortunately my neighbours are caravanners, I bought my van home and erected the awning it on the drive with their guidance one sunny Sunday afternoon. It was great fun with the help of friends. I then numerically marked the pole joints with a marker pen. Both my wife and I know how to do it so we can work as a team to put it up.still takes a good hour without stopping but it's a heavy full awning. As big as the caravan.
As for levelling. Book a hard standing pitch! If not set the level side to side with a ramp under one wheel. Then level with the jockey wheel front to back. If you get it slightly wrong the shower tray won't empty fully but it's no big deal. Dry it out with a chamois.
If you have an I phone it has a spirit level in the compass accessory. I might try it next time i set up. Best of luck.
