Nice van what year is it. I towed a 1994 Daystar for 6 years.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
It towed very well, did everything I wanted. I would still have it but I could not cure the damp in it. I sorted the bathroom wall damp, then got damp in the front corner that I cured. But the damp in the floor and on the walls by the door I just could not get sorted. So I bought the Hymer and have never looked back. The inside of the Award still sets the standard though.

Enjoy your van, I had an ABI Ace Harmony for a number of years. Was a 93 and very similar to the 'Star' range. If ABI were still producing tourers I'd still have one. Sadly, I am of the opinion that the build quality of British vans has not been so good lately and have opted for a European van like many others.
Not sure of the layout of yours but if the standard 4 berth,
pull out the slats from the centre chest between the lounge seats then place the backrests of the two seats in the middle to fill the space and there you have your bed.

Nice one, thankyou,I'm really looking forward to spending as much time away as possible,I need to get a few bits for it,but I guess I will always be buying stuff lol
I will let you know when I go down there if that's the way the bed makes
Thanks for your advice

I forgot to ask,how do you put the bed together on this van?
Under the drawers fitted into the front there is a three inch or so lip, lift that up and it brings out the slats, the lip is used at the base of the beds to hold the slats into place. Put the two seat cushions in the middle and the back rests by the sides and sleep with your head against the front wbulkhead. No more crawling over your other half to get up and go to the loo.

If its anything like our ABI Brooklyn, the bed has 3 cushions things sewn to each other inside one of the bunks. They have a plain cover to them by the way.
Don't do what we did and take it out - its part of the mattress for the bed! We thought it might have been something to do with the front bit if the chest of drawers was removed so left it at home

No bunks on a Daystar. Just one long cushion and one long backrest on either side. The bed makes up really easily.

We have a 2003 Daystar and put the back rests onto the floor up against the seats and throw the end cushions near the door, or outside if we've got the porch awning up, to give us two full width single beds.
It was the green fabric seating and carpets and that decided that this was the van I wanted when I bought it two years ago.
2003 Daystar is an Ace made by swift not the older ABI van. Swift bought out the name when ABI stopped making touring caravans. One of the big differences is at the front inside where the Ace has a removable chest where the ABI has drawers bui
T into the front that extend into the front gas locker leaving the front inside flat. It means that the cushion pattern is different for the front seats with just two long seat cushions and two long back rests, which makes it very comfortable to use.
