Hi!
New to touring and have just purchased our first caravan!
Now we need to get an awning. Have been looking at the Solaris Voyager. We have seen one and really like it, but puzzled as they are half the price of Ventura/ Dorema. Anyone got any experience of these?
Thanks

Not heard of the Solaris, but sure someone might come along soon that has experience.

Have you looked at used awnings? we bought a 2nd hand Dorema full awning with annex, it was 3 years old and only used a few times, and a bargain at £300.

Then on our last outing didn't want to put it up for 3 nights, but saw an advert in the bathroom on site for a outdoor revolution porch awning , it had been used and pretty much abused, but for £20 was worth a punt. It worked well and I have since given it some TLC and it is like brand new

Hope you get your answers soon.

A lot depends on the fabric used and where it is made, for example mine cost just under £900, 8.5 years ago and is German made, it is still as good as the day I bought it. A lot of awnings are made in China, mine is 300gm woven acrylic walls and has a thick polyester roof, double mud walling and very good quality zips. You get what you pay for.

I got an Isabella magnum awning second hand. It was like new, but less than half the price of a new one and only a couple of years old.    Very pleased with it.   I second the view above to think about second hand. suggest you look out in ads on here, preloved, eBay etc. It is a good sized porch awning, the benefit of going for porch instead of full was that i didn't have to wait for one of correct size to come up for sale second hand. Mind you I did have to wait over 8 months for a discontinued Isabella Capri snow porch for winter use, but like buses, loads then all came up at once! Also, I found that Isabella and I think Ventura have all their previous brochures going back years on line, so you can get info about any you see for sale there (e.g age).
