Our first caravan with a motor mover and would like to know whether or not its ok to leave the mover engaged for any length of time. Reason I ask is that we have put the van in storage and come away with the mover still engaged (manual). Its 15 miles away and I cant get up their for a couple of weeks.
Should be ok for a couple of weeks, but it says in my manual (and is probably the same in all of them) not to leave the rollers engaged onto the wheels. They should only be engaged when they are about to be used, and disengaged when all is done. If you can't get up there sooner, then you'll just have to hope for the best.
BTW, you may also need to bring home your battery and give it a charge, best to keep them topped up wherever possible, rather than leave them to go flat whilst in storage.
Thanks. I have the documentation for everything with our new to us caravan except for the motor mover. Will try and get an hour off work to get up there and disengage.

True - the drives do dig deeply into the tyres. OK for the short time that the mover is used, but could do harm being left digging into one spot for ages. The mover mechanisms must be under some stress when engaged, so it cannot be good for them to be left in this situation indefinitely.

If accepted wisdom is that a van should not remain in one position for a period of time to avoid "soft spots" on the tyres, it would seem reasonable that a engaged mover will also create a pressure soft spot over time.
I would disengage if leaving for "long periods"
but let the others on here argue and froth over what constitutes a "long period"
As they are pressing against the wheel they will cause flat spots on the tyres if they are left engaged for any length of time, just as storing for months on end in storage with the same tyre area touching the ground, a couple of weeks shouldnt make much difference but I would disengage it as soon as you can.
