I wonder if this could be attached to one end of the awning bead and drawn into the channel when the awning is removed. If left in place it could be used to draw the awning through.
Not sure how to attach to the awning bead but a simple knot may do it.
Perhaps a tape could be sewn to the bead with a small ring. A stopper knot in the end of the line. Loop the line end through the ring, pass the stopper knot through the loop and pull tight would be simple.
