After recently driving past a caravan that had suffered what appeared to be a tyre blow out, I thought it best to check out our tyres.

The information on them is conspicuous by its absence.

There is no info I can decipher relating to their age of manufacturer, so I thought it best to just get them replaced anyway. They are Continental Tyres and look in decent condition, but would rather be safe than sorry, especially as I can't know their age. (Before anyone says, I have looked for the DOT code and any other possible info with a Week/Year combination but there is nothing)

Onto the next problem... what tyres do I need.

The side wall say 165 R 13 C 91/89

When I go onto any of the tyre websites it asks for another number after the 165, but mine doesn't have it.

Any ideas anyone?

I need someone who can come to where I store the van to change them.

Have a look on the inside of the tyres its possible that they have been fitted the wrong way round????.

Could you please expand on the fact that tyres nowadays are directional?

I am about to change my van tyres around as we should all do every year.
If they are directional, then my tyres will be travelling in the opposite direction to what they were last year.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

The e tyres website does say in the ? box if the 2nd number is mising use 80 as a default.

The tyres you want are 165/80X13C these are commercial van tyres and available no problems.

Yeh just means an 80 profile (80 percent of the width) not the common mistake of thinking its mm anyway as for the DOT code it could be on the inside as they are only printed on one side

Technically they aren't directional, they are just inside outside tyres, directional tyres have tread in which they must rotate towards the front of the vehicle
